Is spray tanning safe?
Yes! DHA has been approved for cosmetic use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is considered nontoxic. DHA based Sunless tanning has been recommended by the Skin Cancer Organization, American Academy of Dermatology, Canadian Dermatology Association, The American Cancer Society and the American Medical Association.
How long will the tan last?
Typically a spray tan will last between 7-10 days. It fades gradually as your body sheds the dead skin cells. Moisturizing regularly will help to prolong the life of your tan.
Does it wash off?
As the active ingredient dyes the dead skin cells brown, it does not wash off in the same way that body paint would. Instead, it gradually fades (just like a real tan) as the dead skin cells fall from the skin.
However, as the tanning product is clear in its natural form, a bronzer is added as a color guide and to aid uniform application. The bronzer will wash of during your first shower or bath, but you will be left with a fabulous tan.
Does it stain your clothes?
You may find that the bronzer will transfer to clothing, but as the solutions are water based it will easily wash out. I recommend you wear loose dark clothing after application.
Will I go orange or streaky with a spray tan?
No, absolutely not! A professional spray tan with modern tanning agents avoids this, and streakiness is caused by improper application of home tanning creams and sprays – which is why you should always let a professional apply your tan.
